Creative Theater for and by Kids

Synopsis

Our story begins at a very upscale restaurant called Auri’s, where the staff takes pride in offering good food, excellent service, live entertainment, and a nice atmosphere.  The foods at Auri’s are proud to be healthy and delicious because they are made from the freshest ingredients.

Next door, is a fast-food place called WackDonald’s, where the staff proudly offers food that is cheap and fast.  The foods at WackDonald’s are likewise proud to be fast and tasty, even if their ingredients aren’t so fresh.  Today is a big day at this particular WackDonald’s because the CEO, known as the “Big Boss” is coming to inspect the franchise.

Between the two buildings is a dumpster where two rats live.  The rats find a hungry, baby mouse and decide to take care of him.  Together these three rodents enter Auri’s searching for food.

It is a busy night at Auri’s.  The restaurant is full of customers who have come for a nice night out.  Everything is going well when they receive the annual visit from the Health Inspector, who sees the rats and promptly chases all the customers away and closes the restaurant down for good.  This is a very sad day for the staff of Auri’s.  Their beloved restaurant has come to an end and they don’t know what to do.

The customers, all dressed up for a nice dinner, now have no choice but to go to WackDonald’s.  They had to leave Auri’s before they were served and are all very hungry.  Unfortunately, the “Big Boss” has decided to shut down this branch of WackDonald’s because he fears the manager’s cost-cutting measures have made the food too unhealthy and they might get sued.  The customers are once again turned away hungry and there are now two restaurants out of business.

All of the un-served foods from both restaurants have now been thrown away in to the dumpster.  This is the worst possible fate for the foods.  Instead of being enjoyed like they want to be, they are now going to go bad and rot.  The fresh food and the fast food see that they are different from each other and this causes them to blame one another for their terrible predicament, leading to an epic battle between fresh and fast food.  As the battle rages on, the rats and baby mouse return to their home.  When they see the food fighting, the rats say, “We’ll be glad to enjoy you!”  The foods become happy because being enjoyed is their main purpose in life and the rats and baby mouse are happy because they will no longer be hungry.

Outside of the dumpster, things are not so cheerful.  All of the ex-employees from the two former restaurants are standing in the alley, wondering what they will do now that they are out of jobs.  They start to talk and realize that if they combined the efficiency of WackDonald’s with the home-cooking of Auri’s, they could make a new restaurant that would be the best of BOTH worlds.  All of the customers come for the Grand Opening of Cameroon’s Restaurant.
