Harry the
Fly, proprietor of the popular bug nightclub, "Harry's Bug
Bistro", has been swatted. Kadie the Ant, star singer of Kadie
and the Jitterbugs, is on trial for the murder.
The play, Harry's
Bug Bistro!, tells the story of the night of the crime through courtroom
testimony & flashbacks to events at the nightclub. We see the
show at the bistro on the night of the swatting, which included
an unexpected performer, the Queen Bee.
We learn that,
before the show, Kadie was under great stress backstage. Could that
have led to murder? We are told that Kadie hated Harry, but did
everyone else love Harry?
Testimony about
a tearful memorial service for Harry seems to suggest this, but
under cross examination it is shown that Harry was actually not
very nice. However, when testimony by the FBI (Federal Bug Investigators)
reveals damaging physical evidence pointing to Kadie, and we see
her arrest.
The Queen Bee,
who is the judge in the court, has heard enough, but the jury isn't
sure. The Queen Bee tricks the jury into pronouncing Kadie guilty,
which ignites a protest. The protest succeeds & the trial continues.
Following a
recess, we begin to learn that there had been a lot going on backstage
at the bistro that night, pointing to a conspiracy to frame Kadie.
The Queen Bee & Harry were in cahoots & were helped by two
unwitting bees, the Bumbling idiots. A happy ending is in store... |
